He was the first LLCC athlete to sign a professional sports contract, signing with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1978. He received all conference baseball honors both years while at LLCC. He holds the highest season/career batting averages-- .459/.411. He was named Male Athlete of the Year for ’77-’78. He received All-Region and All American Honors in 1978, while winning Worth Big Stick for the Midwest. He was the leading hitter for the Helena Phillies in 1979.
