Lincoln Land Community College Athletics

His freshman year he placed seventh in the national meet in both the 220 and the 440. He was named Most Valuable Player in track for two years and named Athlete of the Year in 1971.  He received Most Valuable Player awards both years in track at the University of Texas, specializing in the open 440 and the mile relay in 1973. In 1973, he was ranked 7th in the world in the 440 (45.9) and 10^th in the 220 (20.8).
