The Sangamon County Basketball Tournament is set to tip off January 12–16 at Lincoln Land Community College, marking a historic milestone—its 100th year. This annual event brings together ten area teams: Athens, Auburn, Calvary, Lutheran, New Berlin, Pawnee, Pleasant Plains, Riverton, Tri-City, and Williamsville.
Each night will feature three games, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door, with a discounted rate of $2 for senior citizens.
Lincoln Land Community College is honored to continue hosting this prestigious event, which has become a cornerstone of high school basketball in central Illinois for a century.
This year's tournament will include several special celebrations to honor its rich history:
- Wednesday, January 14 – Decades of Legend Night: Former coaches and players who participated in past tournaments will be recognized.
- Thursday, January 15 – IBCA Honors: The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association will name the Sangamon County School Masters as its Organization of the Year. Any IBCA Hall of Famers in attendance will also be honored.
- Friday, January 16 – Friend of the County Recognition: Doug Furlow will be recognized as this year's Friend of the County for his contributions to the tournament and local basketball.
