Faith Nestler – Region 24 Co-Player of the Year
The 2026 season became one to remember for the Lincoln Land Community College softball program as sophomores Shelby Finchum and Faith Nestler were named Region 24 Co-Players of the Year, recognizing two of the most impactful players in the region.
Finchum established herself as one of the premier offensive players in Region 24 with a season defined by consistency, power, and speed. From the leadoff spot to clutch situations late in games, Shelby continuously delivered for the Loggers offense. She finished the season batting .417 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .693 slugging percentage while collecting 53 hits.
Her extra-base power played a major role in Lincoln Land's success as she totaled 17 doubles, three triples, and four home runs. Finchum also crossed the plate 50 times and drove in 30 runs while becoming one of the toughest hitters in the region to retire. Her discipline at the plate stood out throughout the season, drawing 21 walks while striking out just six times. Combined with 11 stolen bases, Shelby impacted the game in every possible way and became the spark behind the Loggers lineup.
In the circle, Faith Nestler delivered a dominant season that anchored the Lincoln Land pitching staff from start to finish. Nestler threw 117 innings during the year across 25 appearances and 19 starts while earning 13 victories. Her ability to consistently compete against top opponents made her one of the most reliable pitchers in Region 24.
Faith finished the season with an impressive 2.33 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .236 batting average. She also recorded 85 strikeouts, including 42 looking strikeouts, showcasing her command and ability to keep hitters off balance throughout the year. Whether pitching in pressure-packed conference matchups or key postseason contests, Nestler continually gave the Loggers an opportunity to win.
Together, Finchum and Nestler became the heart of a Lincoln Land team that competed with toughness, confidence, and resilience all season long. Their Region 24 Co-Player of the Year honors reflected not only their individual excellence, but also the continued growth and success of the Loggers softball program.
For Lincoln Land, the recognition serves as another milestone in a season filled with accomplishments and proof that the program continues to establish itself among the region's elite.
