Women's Basketball Team Take Down Spoon River

The Lincoln Land Women's basketball team went on the road to Spoon River College and won a decisive MWAC opening game 71-40.

The Loggers started the game slowly and found themselves down 17-15 at the end of the first period. The second period was much of the same, however, the Loggers managed to take a one point lead heading into halftime, 30-29. The Loggers were a dismal 0-9 from the three point line in the half and shot just 26% from the field.
The second half saw the Loggers play significantly better with a more positive focus. Lincoln Land scored 40 points in the second half while holding Spoon River to just 11 points the remainder of the game. Spoon River only scored three points in the final period and all of those were from the foul line. "We need to work on not fouling as much" joked Logger Coach, Chad Jones.

Addison Scarlette lead the Loggers with 22 points. Kirsten Taylor scored 15 and Taylor Nowaskie chipped in 10 respectively. Addison Scarlette pulled down seven rebounds and Kirsten Taylor added  five. Scarlette, Taylor, and Marley Smith all took charges for the Loggers during the contest. The Loggers scored 71 points despite going 0-17 from the 3 point line. Lincoln Land improves to 12-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
