Loggers Victorious at Home

Lincoln Land - 73
Rend Lake - 68
The Lincoln Land Loggers were able to take a late lead and hold on for a 73-68 victory over Region 24 opponent, Rend Lake.
The Warriors of Rend Lake raced out to an early lead and walked away with a victory when the two teams played earlier this year on November 19th. Tonight the teams stayed evenly matched with neither team getting up by more than 7 points. They were so evenly matched, that they went into the halftime break tied at 36.

Although, an early Logger run put LLCC up to start the second half, the Warriors were able to fight back to make sure the contest remained in doubt. Both teams took turns with the lead until a Cam Kincaid bucket with 3:30 to go put the Loggers ahead for good. LLCC took a 63-62 lead and never relinquished it.
An enormous difference for the Loggers was that their roster is trending towards full strength and they got their best scoring off their bench this season. Grant Davis was a spark on both ends of the floor and put in 8 second half points knocking in two threes and also coming up with multiple positive defensive plays. Darius Turner, coming back from an injury, earned his best scoring output of the year, chipping in 12. Michael Ousley led the Loggers with 14 and Cameron Kincaid added 13. The Loggers had one of their best balanced scoring games of the first half of the season with 7 Loggers scoring at least 6 points.

Even with Rend Lake holding an advantage in field goal percentage and rebounds, the Logger defensive pressure forced 15 Warrior turnovers, 9 more than the Loggers. Lincoln Land's aggressive play lead to 12 more free throw attempts than the Warriors (17-5) which statistically proved the advantage for the Loggers.
Lincoln Land reaches a record of 5--6 on the year. They look to get back to .500 and to finish the first semester strong as they will travel Saturday to Palos Heights, Illinois to take on Moraine Valley, who the Loggers defeated to open the season.
