Lincoln Land got back to their winning ways, this time against Illinois Valley Community College coming away victorious 67-57.
The Loggers were definitely the stronger team on the evening. The only times Illinois Valley lead were early in the contest. Although the Eagles of Illinois Valley were able to force an early time out by the Loggers, LLCC never trailed by more than a possession. Once settled in, the Loggers set a strong tone from then on. Lincoln Land got up by as many as 14 with about 4:00 to go and were able to maintain the lead there.
To start the second half, Lincoln Land was able to push their advantage out to 20 with still over 15:00 to play, before the Eagles began to crawl back into the game. Slowly IVCC was able to chop away at their disadvantage. Rebounding helped keep the Eagles in the contest as they were able to convert on 12 second chance points in the half. Although IVCC charged back, the Loggers were able to hunker down when the game got to a 4-point contest with a little over 7:00 to play. Lincoln Land made just enough plays and forced enough Illinois Valley mistakes to put the contest further out of reach over those final minutes to eventually get out to their final 67-57 advantage.
Michael Ousley led all scorers for the second game in a row by putting in 17 total points. Dane Foster had his second good scoring output in a row by chipping in with 16 and a team high 8 rebounds. Camren Kincaid also ended with 8 boards and added in 12 points. Kyle Leonard just missed double digits with 9.
The Loggers get to 500% on the year by getting to 2-2 before they head back out on the road Saturday to Ina to play their first Region 24 contest against Rend Lake Community College.
