Lincoln Land lost game one against the Titans of Eastern Florida State, 2-1. Brittany Roady pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs in a loss. The Loggers had nine hits and stranded 11 runners. "We hit the ball well," stated Coach John Marsaglia. "I was also very pleased with Roady's performance on the mound. She had very good control and equally good movement on her stuff." Roady picked up her first loss in Florida.
Ashton Dyche, 2-for-4 drove in Addison Bryant in the 5
th inning for their lone run. Katelyn Presley was also 2-for-4 in game one.
Game two, the Loggers only allowed five hits to Eastern Florida and six walks. Freshman pitcher Tess Beckham was the losing pitcher (0-2). The Titan's scored all 9 runs in the 2
nd inning. "The walks definitely hurt us," stated Marsaglia. It's early, especially for our freshmen pitching staff, but I'm not worried about how they will do this year."
Lincoln Land scored their only run in the third on a Katelyn Presley base hit that scored Haley Patrick who led the inning off with a hit.
Madison Routh pitched 2 and 2/3 of scoreless softball in relief, allowing one hit and one walk.
Lincoln Land is 1-5 and continues today in Sanford, Florida against Seminole Community College.
