SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) Athletics Department announced Monday that longtime head softball coach
John Marsaglia has officially retired after 12 seasons at the helm of the Loggers program.
Marsaglia, a Chatham native, compiled an impressive
394 wins during his tenure and was named
Mid-West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2018). Under his leadership, the Loggers made their first-ever
national tournament appearance in 2013, finishing ninth. They returned in
2014 (7th), 2015 (5th), and 2018 (9th), cementing their status as a national contender.
"
Thank you, Coach, for your unwavering dedication, guidance, and the countless hours you invested in our Loggers softball program," said Diana Couch, LLCC Athletic Director. "
You are a true servant leader and will always be known as the department Logfather."
Marsaglia leaves behind a legacy defined not only by wins and championships but by his influence on generations of student-athletes. In his farewell message to the team, Marsaglia shared a fitting quote: "
Play hard, intimidate, and above all, have fun playing the game!"
Marsaglia's presence will be deeply missed, but his impact on LLCC softball will resonate for years to come.
