Loggers Split on the First Day of the Heartland Invitational

LLCC vs. Rock Valley

    The Loggers started off strong against Rock Valley College taking the first 2 sets 25-21, 25-21, but could not finish and lost 13-25, 16-25, 10-15. The Loggers' defense was all over the court. Sophomore libero, Izzy Lynch, led the defense in digs with 17. Izzy Link had 11 digs, Brinlie Durbin had 9, Bella Winfield-Russo contributed 6, and Maryn Linderman had 5 digs. Gracie Brockett earned herself 1 solo block and 2 block assists, and Hadleigh Maley also earned a solo block. 

    The Loggers offense struggled to execute during the last 3 sets when Rock Valley picked up their blocking. Freshman outside hitter, Kylee McDonald, led in kills with 7, Gracie Brockett earned 6 for the Loggers, Savannah Kaeb and Avery Ginglen each contributed 5 kills, and Izzy Link earned 4. Both setters, Brinlie Durbin and Bella Winfield-Russo, each put up 11 assists for the Loggers offense. Freshman setter, Brinlie Durbin, put quite a bit of pressure on Rock Valley's serve receive by earning 4 aces. Brooklyn Lynch, Maryn Linderman, and Izzy Lynch each earned 1 ace for the Loggers. Though the outcome did not go in the Loggers favor, they fought hard and were able to reset for their next match against Ellsworth Community College.
 
 
LLCC vs. Ellsworth Community College

    The Loggers ended their Friday on a high note with a win against Ellsworth Community College in 4 sets: 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-20. Freshman outside hitter, Kylee McDonald, led the Loggers offense in kills with 15, hitting an impressive .423 on the match. Sophomore outside hitter, Izzy Link, followed closely behind with 14 kills hitting an outstanding .267. Avery Ginglen, Savannah Kaeb, and Gracie Brockett contributed 6 kills each, while Brinlie Durbin had the match winning kill. Brinlie Durbin led the offense with 21 assists and Bella Winfield-Russo was right behind her with 19. Freshman DS, Maryn Linderman, put some pressure on Ellsworth from the service line earning 3 aces. Brooklyn Lynch had 2 aces, and Bella Winfield-Russo and Izzy Lynch each had 1 ace. 

    Sophomore libero, Izzy Lynch, ran the back court by earning 13 digs. Freshman setter, Bella Winfield-Russo, picked up 7 digs, Brinlie Durbin had 6, Maryn Linderman contributed 5, while Gracie Brockett, Brooklyn Lynch, and Kylee McDonald each picked up 4 digs for the Loggers defense. Gracie Brockett created a wall at the net and earned 2 solo blocks with 4 block assists. The Loggers will play Milwaukee Area Technical College tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. to finish out the Heartland Tournament.
