In a battle of shorthanded teams, the Lincoln Land women's basketball team easily handled John Wood College 83-15. Both teams dressed only seven players on the day due to injury and illness. "We are in a tough spot right now with a limited roster" stated Logger coach Chad Jones. "Fortunately, today, we played a team in a similar situation." The Loggers started the game quickly going up fifteen to nothing. The Logger press was effective against John Wood. The Loggers lead 24-2 at the end of the first period. The second quarter saw the Loggers pull off the press, but their defense was still aggressive. Lincoln Land outscored John Wood 28-3 in the second period. The Loggers were up 52-5 at halftime.
The second half saw the Loggers go to an uncharacteristic two three zone defense. The Loggers also controlled the pace of the game by walking the ball up the floor and running very deliberate offense. Although the Loggers scoring slowed, their defense was still controlling. Lincoln Land won the third period 11-3. The fourth quarter was much of the same with Lincoln Land scoring 20 points while giving up just seven. Every Logger dressed for action scored in the game. In an unusual stat, every Logger registered at least two assists on the game. The Loggers totaled 33 assists on the day. Lauren Chastain led the Loggers with 21 points. Zoey Beehn chipped in 19, Isabella Tiburzi 13, and Kylie Robinson 12 points, respectively. Lillie Woodworth pulled down a team high 13 rebounds while Zoey Beehn added 10. Isabella Tiburzi led the Loggers with six assists. Lincoln Land improves to 14-0 on the season and 1-0 in MWAC play. The Loggers play host to Lake Land College on Wednesday at Cass Gym.
