#8 Loggers Fall in the Championship Game

The NJCAA Region 24 Championship game came down to the final 3 minutes of the contest. A rough offensive output in the fourth quarter doomed Lincoln Lands upset bid over Illinois Central College Saturday afternoon. The #8 Loggers could only manage to score 9 points in the period as #4 ICC dumped in 18 to secure a 65-58 victory.
The first half was a back and forth affair for the two nationally ranked teams. Illinois Central held a slim 16-14 lead after one period.

Lincoln land came back in the second frame to outscore the Cougars 17-15 for a halftime score of 31-31. Zoey Beehn was the Logger's first half scoring leader. The 5'11 Freshman scored 10 points while Lillie Woodworth and Isabella Tiburzi added 9 and 8 respectively. Sophomore Hunter Mowrey pulled down 5 rebounds.
The third quarter was Lincoln Land's most productive offensive period. Zoey Beehn was dominant in the paint and added 7 points in the frame. Alexis Wade added 5 points as the Loggers took a 49-47 advantage entering the final quarter.

Lincoln Land got off to a good start in the fourth quarter. The Loggers held a slim 6 point lead midway through quarter before ICC's offense came to life. The Cougars had their best scoring quarter of the game of 18 to over take the slight Logger lead. In addition, Lincoln Land's offense fell into a drought which led to several empty possessions that ICC capitalized on. As a result, Lincoln Land was forced to foul and had two inbounds scoring attempts fall short.

Zoey Beehn finished with a game high 19 points. Lillie Woodworth chipped in 13 that included two 3 point baskets. Isabella Tiburzi had 12 points while Alexis Wade and Kylie Robinson finished with 9 and 5 respectively.

The loss dropped the Loggers record to a 28-4. Lincoln Land must now rely on an at large bid to return to the NJCAA National Tournament held In Hickory,NC.
