9th seeded Lincoln Land lost to the 8 seed, North Iowa Area, 84-65 in the NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The Loggers struggled offensively early in the contest. Lincoln Land could only score 6 points in the first quarter and found themselves down 20-6 after one period.
Lincoln Land would turn things around in the second quarter. The Logger's Alexis Wade and Lillie Woodworth would both drain a three point basket to power the Lincoln Land offense to a 23-19 scoring advantage in the second. Isabella Tiburzi also had a strong presence as she accounted for a team high 11 points before the half. North Iowa entered halftime up 39-29.
The third frame was another tough scoring period for the Loggers. Lincoln Land could only muster 12 points while giving up 21 to NIACC.
Lincoln Land finally found their offensive prowess in the final frame. However, NIACC was equally impressive as they matched the Logger's 24 point performance to close out the contest 84-65.
Lillie Woodworth led Lincoln Land with 22 points. She also handed out 5 assists. Isabella Tiburzi had 13 points and 2 blocks. Zoey Beehn also finished with a double/double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the Logger scoring were: Alexis Wade 7, Josie Hughes 6, Kylie Robinson 3, Hunter Mowrey 2.
Lincoln Land moves to the consolation bracket and will face Moraine Valley in a 12:00pm est game on Wednesday, March 18. Lincoln falls to 28-5 on the year.
