The #4 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team opened NJCAA region 24 tournament play by hosting Lewis and Clark Community College and cruised to an easy victory 102-45. The overall #1 seed Loggers struggled early and managed just a four point lead at the end of the first period. The second quarter saw the Loggers turn up the pressure defense and forced 16 turnovers in the period en route to scoring 31 points in the period. The Loggers defense held Lewis and Clark to just five points in the period and took a 49-17 lead into the half time break.
The second half saw the starting five of Lincoln Land quickly score six unanswered points. The Loggers then went to their bench and continued to push the pace of the game scoring 29 points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw Lincoln Land and a couple extra points distance between them and the Trail Blazers and finished the game off by a score of 102-45. Every Logger in uniform saw substantial action in the game, and every Logger found the scoring column. The Loggers were lead by Hunter Mowrey and Megan Harrell who both scored 17 points. Alexis Wade, Whitney Rumbold, and Lillie Woodworth each scored 11 points. Sam Lindhorst and Mae Herman chipped in 10 respectively. Every Logger player also pulled down a rebound in the game. Leading the way was freshman Lauren Chastain with eight. The Loggers improve to 29-2 on the season and will face #4 seed Parkland College Thursday at 5:30pm at Cass Gymnasium in the semifinals of the region 24 tournament.
