The #4 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to the John Wood Trailblazers in the final regular season home game and scored a decisive 87-37 victory. The game started slow for the Loggers as John Wood quickly jumped to a six nothing lead. The Loggers responded and the teams traded baskets for much of the first period. Lincoln Land would hold a slim 19-12 lead at the end of the first period. The second quarter saw the defense and full court pressure of the Loggers take a toll on John Wood. The Loggers forced 12 turnovers in the period and managed to hold John Wood to just six points in the period.
The second half would see the Loggers come out on a mission. Lincoln Land held John Wood to just four points in the third quarter. During that time, the Loggers put an impressive 27 points on the board. Lincoln Land would call off the press in the final period an cruised to a victory by the final score of 87-37. Coming into the game, John Wood was averaging 70 points per game. With the victory, the Loggers won a share of the MId-West Conference regular season title. Lincoln Land was led in scoring by Megan Harrell and Sam Lindhorst with 18 points each. Whitney Rumbold chipped in 10 respectively. Megan Harrell had yet another double double by pulling down 10 rebounds. Every Logger dressed for action scored in the contest. This was the final regular season home game for the sophomore class of Loggers. This group of sophomores has, to date, won 56 games and lost just 10.
Lincoln Land improves to 28-2 and will begin NJCAA regional tournament play on Tuesday at Cass Gym. Time and opponent is to be determined.
