Loggers Cruise to Victory

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team lived up to their #9 ranking by defeating Danville Area 82-60 Saturday afternoon. The Loggers improved to 23-2 on the season. Danville got off to a fast start in the opening 5 minutes. The Jaguars held their largest lead of 5 points at the 5:16 mark of the first quarter. However, the Loggers offense and defense found its rhythm to secure a 16-15 lead at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter was the best offensive quarter for Lincoln Land. The Loggers put up a game high 27 points behind Alexis Wade and Megan Harrell. Wade poured 15 first half points while Harrell added 11. Whitney Rumbold chipped in 7. The Logger's defense was also on track as they held Danville to just 11 points in the frame. Lincoln Land went into halftime up 41-26.
The second half was once again dominated by the Loggers. Lincoln Land saw their largest lead of the game of 29 points at the 4:12 mark in the fourth quarter. Danville was able to connect on some baskets late in the game but it wasn't enough to overcome the 82-60 Logger victory.

Megan Harrell finished with a team high 22 points. She also led the team with 4 steals. Alexis Wade led Lincoln Land with 9 rebounds and 19 points. Rounding out the Logger scoring: Sam Lindhorst 13, Whitney Rumbold 9, Hunter Mowrey 6, Mae Herman 5, Lillie Woodworth 3, Ella Guerrero 3, Elynn Peterson 2.

Lincoln Land moves to 23-2 and 10-2 in MWAC play. The Loggers return to action Wednesday, Feb.19 for Lincoln Land's Homecoming game against Kaskaskia College at 5:30 in Cass Gym.
