The Lincoln Land Community College women's soccer team earned a dramatic
1–0 double-overtime victory over Kaskaskia College on Friday afternoon at home, punching their ticket to the Region 24 Championship match.
In a
back-and-forth postseason battle, both teams traded chances and defensive stops throughout regulation and the first overtime period. Neither side found separation as the clock wound down, setting up a tense finish with the season on the line.
With the match seconds away from heading to penalty kicks,
Daphney Hartel delivered the winner, scoring with
13 seconds remaining in double overtime to send the Loggers through.
Goalkeeper
Elle Walker came up big when called upon, recording
six saves to secure the shutout and help LLCC stay in position for the late breakthrough.
LLCC finished with
20 shots, including
14 on target, showing resilience and persistence deep into overtime.
