In a battle of top 25 teams, the Lincoln Land women's basketball team defeated the Cobras of Parkland College 66-54. Parkland entered the contest ranked #24 in the latest NJCAA basketball poll having won their last four conference games. Lincoln Land fell to #9 after suffering their first loss of the season last week. The Loggers starter the game hot and scored quickly to take a 10-2 lead. Parkland would answer and cut the lead quick to two. Lincoln Land manage a slim seven point lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter again saw the Loggers slowly build the lead and took an eleven point lead to the half. The Cobras were on fire in the first period going 5-8 from the three point line. Lincoln Land, on the other hand, went 0-7. Loggers lead at the half 40-29.
The second half was an absolute grind as both teams struggled to score. Lincoln Land was out scored in the third quarter 13-12. The forth quarter, again, was a slug fest with little offensive action. Lincoln Land managed a 14-13 quarter advantage. The Loggers out rebounded Parkland 33-28 on the night and force 15 turnovers. The final score was a 66-54 victory for the Loggers.
Lincoln Land was lead in scoring by Megan Harrell with another strong night of 23 points. Mae Herman came off the bench and scored 12 as the only other Logger in double figures. Harrell pulled down a team high 12 rebounds as well. Durbin Thomas and Sam Lindhorst both dished out 4 assists. Lincoln Land improves to 19-1 and will play on the road against #11 Lake Land College. This will be the fifth game in 10 days for the Loggers, a highly unusual stretch.
