Loggers Bounce Back in Conference Play

The #5 Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to the Danville Jaguars and scored a 74-58 victory.  Danville entered the game 14-4 (3-1).  Lincoln Land was trying to bounce back from the seasons first loss on Wednesday at Illinois Central College.  The Loggers started the game strong offensively scoring 23 first quarter points. Sophomores Sam Lindhorst and Whitney Rumbold both got into early foul trouble and sat most of the half.  The second quarter saw the Loggers ramp up their defense and Danville turned the ball over 12 times in the period. Those Danville turnovers lead to the Loggers out scoring Danville 19-7 in the period.

The second half was a much closer contest as Danville quickly cut the Logger lead to 10.  Lincoln Land responded and went on an eight to zero run.  The Loggers eventually extended their lead by out scoring Danville 16-14 in the third quarter.  The fourth quarter saw the Loggers offense slow and work the clock.  Danville was able to make three 3 point baskets in the period and out scored Lincoln Land 20-16, however, that wasn't enough.  Lincoln Land held on to win comfortably 74-58.

The Loggers were lead in scoring by sophomore forward Megan Harrell who poured in a team high 26 points.  Whitney Rumbold was the only other Logger in double figures with 11. Danville is one of the leading rebounding teams in the MWAC.  The Loggers manage to out-rebound Danville 35-29 behind Megan Harrell's 11 rebounds.  Whitney Rumbold pulled down eight respectively.  Lincoln Land improves to 17-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.  Danville falls to 14-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.  The Loggers are in the middle of a rough stretch of games.  Lincoln Land plays 5 games in 8 days with the next contest being at Kaskaskia College on Monday a 5:30
