The Lincoln Land Loggers Women's Soccer team played the second of two matches this weekend, taking on the Black Hawk College Braves in Moline, Illinois. The windy conditions played a big part of the battle of two unbeatens early in the season. At the start of the game, the wind was blowing against the Loggers, which allowed the Braves to hold possession, to go along with pushing up their back line and overloading their midfield, trapping the Loggers on their defensive side of the field for much of the first half. The Loggers were able to get a couple of counter attacks going but were unsuccessful in getting the ball into the net. Defensively the Loggers stayed collected to keep the Braves from scoring in the first half.
The second half was much better for the Loggers as they now had the wind at their back and regrouped to make some changes during half time. The Loggers would come out with more composure on the ball that led to more scoring opportunities. The Loggers finally found the goal seven minutes into the second half on a successful corner kick. Then eleven minutes later found the goal again on a throw-in outside the goal box.
