Sophomores Go Out With a Bang

The #14 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team played their final regular season game of the year and soundly defeated the Jaguars of Danville 84-55.  Lincoln Land opened the game with a blistering first quarter scoring 34 points in the period.  The Loggers full-court press forced Danville into 15 turnovers in the period. "Our intensity and focus that first ten minutes was amazing" stated Logger coach Chad Jones.  The Loggers lead 34-13 at the first period break.  The second quarter saw the Jaguars make some adjustments and slowly chip away at the lead.  With eight minutes remaining in the first half, the Loggers lead by 25.  Over the final eight minutes, the Jaguars would out score Lincoln Land by five points making the half time score 48-28 in favor of the Loggers.
 
The second half was a fairly evenly matched game with Lincoln Land slowly adding to their lead.  Lincoln Land held its largest lead of the game with just over two minutes to go at 31 points.  The final score saw the Loggers win by a score of 84-55.  The Loggers had three players in double figures with Marley Smith leading the way with 18 points.  Megan Harrell scored 17 and Avrie Schmidt added 14. All five graduating sophomores scored in their final regular season game at Cass Gym.  Sam Lindhorst pulled down a team high 11 rebounds.  In addition, Lindhorst led the Loggers with six assists.  Lincoln Land finishes the regular season with a record of 24-6 and will host an opening round game of the MWAC tournament on Wednesday.
