The Loggers traveled to Champaign, IL for the NJCAA DII Central A District Tournament to face Southwestern Illinois College at 1:00pm. The Loggers won in 4 sets, scores include: 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15.
The Loggers started the first set down 1-6. Bella Powell had three service points to bring the score to 4-7. Hannah Clayton entered the set for Bella Pasquino, adding one ace to tie the set at 8. Carly Michels had two service points that forced SWIC to a timeout at 13-10, she added two more service points out of the timeout. Josie Wolter recorded a solo block to give the Loggers a 7 point lead. With Clayton serving, SWIC took their second timeout of the set as the Loggers led 23-17. The Loggers won the first set 25-20.
The Loggers started the second off leading 3-2 before both teams battled point for point. Hannah Clayton added a kill and ace, forcing SWIC to call a timeout as the Loggers led 17-14. Michels added a kill and ace late in the second second, giving the Loggers a 4 point lead. The Loggers forced SWIC to a second timeout, score included 22-19. Out of the timeout SWIC scored two straight points and battled to beat the Loggers 23-25. SWIC continued to battle with the Loggers point for point in the third set. Emily Veach subbed into the set as the Loggers were down three points. The Loggers fell behind 10-15 before taking their first timeout. Josie Wolter added a kill out of the timeout and recorded an ace on a three point service run. Emily Veach had a four point service run and recorded an ace before SWIC took their second timeout of the set. Veach continued her service run out of the timeout with five more service points. Isabel Hudspeth finished the set with a big kill.
The Loggers won the third set 25-19. Isabel Hudspeth gave the Loggers the first point of the fourth set with a kill. The Loggers forced SWIC into a timeout while leading 7-3. Bella Powell and Isabeth Hudspeth added a kill each to give the Loggers a 6 point lead. A second timeout was taken by SWIC with the Loggers up 14-5. Carly Michels recorded a big kill as the Loggers continued to push points. Veach added an ace on a four point service run and Wolter had a kill to push the Loggers ahead by 8. Michels finished the set with a kill to give the Loggers a 3-1 win.
With the 3-1 win over Southwestern Illinois College, the Loggers advanced in the District Tournament to face Parkland College. The Loggers lost to Parkland in 3 sets. Scores include: 22-25, 19-25, 20-25.
The Loggers scored the first two points of the first set. Bella Powell had a big kill to force a Parkland timeout at 3-1. The Loggers continued to battle but fell 6-11 before taking their first timeout of the set. Carly Michels and Powell each added a kill out of the timeout. A second timeout was taken by the Loggers at 12-19. Isabel Hudspeth recorded a kill before going back to the service line. Back to back kills by Powell brought the Loggers within 5 points and forced Parkland into a timeout. Hudspeth had a seven point service run, adding an ace. Michels added two kills to bring the score 20-21. Veach and Powell both added two more kills to give the Loggers a 22-21 lead. The Loggers dropped the first set 22-25.
The Loggers battled with the Cobras point for point to start the second set. A timeout was taken by the Loggers at 3-7. Hudspeth added an ace and Powell recorded a kill to give the Cobras a 3 point lead. A kill by Josie Wolter and an ace by Powell brought the Loggers back within two points forcing Parkland to a timeout. The Loggers took their second timeout down 14-18 in the second set, a kill by Hudspeth turned things around. Powell recorded a kill off the block while Bixby added a block to bring the Loggers within four points. The Cobras took the second set 25-19.
The Cobras forced the Loggers to a timeout to start the third set. A block by Wolter gave the Loggers their first point of the set. Hudspeth added two kills while Wolter had a five point service run to take the lead 7-6. Powell tallied three kills in a row for the Loggers to push ahead 12-9. The Loggers shortly fell behind but Hudspeth tied the set up at 15 with two kills. A Logger timeout was taken with the Cobras up two points. With an overpass from the Cobras, Wolter tallied a kill. The Loggers battled hard against Parkland College but fell in three straight sets. With the 0-3 loss against Parkland College, the Loggers season came to an end with a final record of 32-18.Â
