The #3 nationally ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team traveled to D1 Rend Lake and came away with a 90-70 victory. The win boosted the Loggers's record to 16-1.
Lincoln Land didn't shoot particularly well the first half but still claimed a 36-28 halftime lead. The Loggers came out of half time with a renewed defensive and offensive attitude. Defensively, Lincoln Land turned up the pressure with half court traps which lead to transition baskets. Offensively, Sadie Bueker went 5 for 5 from the 3 point line as the Loggers extended their lead to 29 after 3 periods. Jolene Bueker was also a big part of the Loggers success as she had a double/double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
"We knew coming into tonight's contest would be a tough challenge ," stated Coach Jones after the game. "We didn't have a great first half but the girls responded with great energy the second half. We're the type of team that must play with passion and energy. When we do that, we're a fun team to watch."
The Buekers, Sadie and Jolene, led Lincoln Land in scoring with 17 and 16 points each. Kat Clark finished with 12 and Hannah Wallen chipped in with 11. Havilyn Dulin had 9.
Jolene Bueker pulled down a game high 13 rebounds while Kat Clark had 9.
Sadie Bueker dished out 5 assists and Hannah Wallen finished with 4 steals.
The Logger's next game will be at home on Saturday, Jan. 11 against Kishwaukee. Game time is 1:00.
