LLCC - 68
Mineral Area - 111
On the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday the Logger men's basketball team travelled down to Park Hills, Missouri and ultimately fell to host Mineral Area, 111-68.
The Loggers have been victims of many long scoring runs by opponents this season and Monday afternoon proved more of the same. Lincoln Land saw themselves down only 14-11 at the first media timeout 7:00 in to the contest. However, after the break the Cardinals ripped off a 12-0 run and ultimately a 34-10 run to leave the Loggers in a large hole. Mineral Are took a 53-27 advantage in to half. Mineral Area similarly built their margin in the second half, leading by as many as 44 on multiple occasions.
The Logger woes began with shooting, in the first half they mustered a 21% average compared to Mineral Area's 57%. On the game LLCC was out-shot 71%-39%, committed 3 more turnovers, and were out rebounded by 14.
Lincoln Land only got 2 points from their bench in the game and four out of five starters got to double digits led by sophomore Jordan Brooks who knocked down 5 threes in the way to 17 points. Freshmen Garik Hill ended with one of his season's higher totals with 15. Freshmen Darius Brewington and Keon Jones each ended with 13. Jones barely missed a double-double with 9 rebounds.
Lincoln Land, now 2-17, will play Wednesday at home against Millikin JV before beginning MWAC play the following week.
