The Lincoln Land women's team traveled to St. Louis for a road contest against St. Louis Louis Community College and escaped with a 78-72 overtime victory.
Lincoln Land struggled from the floor shooting just 21% from the floor in the first half. Poor shooting and
12 first half turnovers allowed St. Louis to stay close with the halftime score being 34-31.
The second half started well as Lincoln Land increased its lead to 10 early in the 3rd period. This lead was short lived as St. Louis quickly came back and tied the game. The quarter ended with Lincoln Land up two 49-47.
The fourth quarter was a mirror of the third with Lincoln Land getting a lead by as much as
9, only to have St. Louis come back. St. Louis was able to take the lead with
4:14 to go in the game. The Archers extended their lead to as much as six points. Lincoln Land managed to claw back and get the game to within three. With 40 seconds to go in the game Lincoln Land found themselves in possession of the ball down three. Hannah Wallen hit a kick out three on the wing to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining. The Logger defense held strong and pushed the game to overtime.
In the overtime period the Archers drew first blood and scored on the opening possession. Lincoln Land was able to counter and eventually take a lead. They held the lead and won by a final score of 78-72.
The Loggers were lead in scoring by Katryel Clark with 16. Hannah Wallen chipped in 15 points and Kennedy Bauer contributed 9 for the Loggers. Wallen and Clark lead the Loggers with eight apiece. #3 Lincoln Land improves to 17-1 on the season and plays again
on Monday at 5:30against Black Hawk College.
