Women’s basketball gets MWAC victory


#10 ranked Lincoln Land Women's Basketball team went on the road and beat John Wood 67-44. The Loggers managed to win the tough conference game despite playing short handed. Chelby Harden and Madison Jones were both out with injuries and Nicole Robinson suffered an ankle injury during the second quarter.

Lincoln Land jumped out to a first quarter lead of 18-11 and extended the lead to 33-21 at the half. The Loggers came out of half and outscored John Wood 19-8 behind a dominant performance by Katryel Clark. Clark scored on three consecutive possessions in the paint to propel the Loggers to a lead of 52-29. John Wood came out the fourth quarter with a press and run and jump defense. However, the Loggers were able to handle the added pressure and cruised to a 67-44 victory.
"A Conference win on the road is always a difficult thing to do," stated Coach Jones. " We were definitely short handed today but everyone stepped up and performed well."
Katryel Clark led Lincoln Land with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Jolene Bueker added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring was Havilyn Dulin with 10, Hannah Wallen with 9, Katie Rhodes with 7, Madison Jernigan with 3 and Nicole Robinson had 2.

Lincoln Land out rebounded the Trailblazers 36-33 and forced 20 turnovers while committing only 11.
Lincoln Land improves to 22-2 overall and 5-1 in M- WAC play.
