The #5 ranked Lincoln Land Loggers traveled to Jacksonville to take on the Illinois College reserves and came away with an 87-42 victory. The Loggers jumped out quickly and got up 12-2 on several fast break layups. The Loggers used several defensive traps to turn Illinois College over 8 times in the period and lead 25-7 at the end of the quarter.
This momentum continued in the second quarter as the Loggers went deep into their bench and used that depth to extend the lead to 50-17 at the half. The second half started sluggish for the Loggers on the offensive end and only managed to score 17 points in the 3
rd quarter. However, the Logger defense held strong and only allowed 8 points in the quarter.
Every Logger saw substantial action in the game. Lincoln Land scored the last basket of the game with just under a minute to play in the game. The Loggers saw balanced scoring with Katryel Clark leading the way with 13 points. Maclayne Taylor scored 11. Jolene Bueker, Havilyn Dulin, Madison Jernigan, and Christina Walker all chipped in 9 points respectively.
Christina Walker lead the Loggers with 9 rebounds. Kennedy Bauer added 5 rebounds and Madison Jernigan lead the Loggers with 4 assts.
Lincoln Land will travel to Quincy on Friday and Saturday to play #2 Ranked Johnson County and #3 Ranked North Iowa Area. "Today was a good tune up for what is coming." Stated Logger Coach Chad Jones. "We are going to have to be very dialed in next weekend playing two top five teams on back to back nights."
