The Lincoln Land women's basketball team played their first home game of the season defeating Southwestern Illinois College 76-56. The Loggers, who rose to #5 in the NJCAA rankings, were ahead by only 2 at the end of the first quarter 17-15. The second quarter saw the Loggers ratchet up the defense and extend the lead to 11 at the half. Lincoln Land came out intense to start the second half and quickly extended the lead to 25 and never looked back.
The Loggers were lead in scoring by Cassi Kraft with 12 points. Katryel Clark chipped in 11. The Loggers saw twelve different players score in the contest. Lincoln Land was lead in rebounding by Katryel Clark and Jolene Bueker with 5 each. The Loggers go on the road this weekend to play in the SWIC class in Belleville, IL. Ten of Lincoln Lands first eleven games of the season are on the road. "It was nice to play at home. Now we are back on the road for another long stretch." Stated Logger coach Chad Jones. "It was nice to get everyone some minutes tonight. We did some good things."
Lincoln Land improves to 5-0 on the season.
