The Lincoln Land men's basketball team came into Monday on a two game winning streak and hoped to continue that momentum, however, the Mineral Area Cardinals bested the Loggers 89-66. 

Lincoln Land lost 111-41 earlier in the semester to Mineral Area and hoped for and got a much better effort in this game. Lincoln Land has had slowed starts through out the season, but tonight they kept pace with the Cardinals through much of the first half. Mineral Area did rattle off a 12-2 run late in the half to go to the break up 51-30. Despite allowing Mineral Area to score the first 5 points of the second half and spread the deficit, Lincoln Land was able to fight back and had the game within 12 points late in the second half. However, the Loggers could not hold on and trailed by as many as 26 down the stretch, before eventually losing by the 23 point margin. 

Lincoln Land got a career night from sophomore Jake Pennell who poured in a game high 32, while also dishing out 4 assists. The only other Logger who was able to get to double digits was DJ Doolin who put in 14 points and grabbed a team high 7 rebounds. The Loggers did care for the ball only committing 15 turnovers, 5 in the second half, while forcing Mineral area into 22. Mineral Area did outbound LLCC 47-25. 

Lincoln Land is now 2-15 on the year. They will stay at home to play Harry S Truman College in a game rescheduled from Saturday, and also Sunday. The Loggers will hope to avenge a loss to Truman right before break.
