Lincoln Land took games 3 and 4 from Lincoln College Tuesday afternoon. Game 3 was a 7-3 win for the Loggers. Game 4 joined games 1 and 2 as blowout wins for the Loggers, as they came back from an early deficit to win big, 15-7.
Austin Troemper (2-1) got the win in game 3. The freshman pitched 5 innings and fanned 7 Lynx hitters on his way to his second straight win. Jay Burton and Cade Sestak relieved Troemper and were able to keep the Lynx bats quiet in the 6th and 7th innings for the 7-3 win. The front of the lineup came up with 3 RBI in the game as Rick Dour, Cole Greer, and Talon File all knocked in a run. John Plattner and Andy Lopez also chipped in an RBI apiece, while the Loggers were able to scratch across 2 unearned runs as well.Â
Jack O'Connor (3-1) was the winning pitcher for the Loggers in game 4. Lincoln Land got off to a rough start after trailing by 3 after the first inning. However, another explosive game for the Logger offense took care of the lead Lincoln had. A 6 run 4th inning propelled the Loggers to an 8-3 lead, after they answered with 2 in the top of the 2nd inning. A big game by Talon File had the offense rolling in the middle innings as the freshman put up another multi-homerun game. He ended up 3-5 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. Cole Greer and Dalton Fletcher added to the offense for the Loggers combing for 7 hits and 4 RBI. Ethan Klay came in to pitch for the 6th and 7th innings and shut the door on the Lynx for a 15-7 win.
The Loggers improve to 18-19 (9-11 MWAC) on the year. They get back to action this weekend with a 3 game set against Vincennes University. The games will be played at Claude Kracik Field, with game 1 starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday night.Â
