Andy Lopez hit everything thrown his way in a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln College Friday afternoon. The Loggers lit up the scoreboard again 11-1, and 14-4 to extend their winning streak to 5 games.
Devin Smith chalked up his 4th win of the year in game one, going 5 innings and giving up just one earned run on four hits. Andy Lopez got the scoring started for the Loggers by sending a grand slam homer into orbit in the top of the first inning for a quick 4-0 Logger lead. The homer was the first of 3 on the day for Lopez, and the RBI total came out to 11 on the day for the freshman slugger. Noah Powless and Dalton Fletcher had an RBI apiece in game one, and Talon File added 3 more including a long homerun as well. Smith was able to escape jams in the 3rd and 4th to minimize Lincoln's scoring and take the lopsided 11-1 win.
Lopez continued crushing baseballs in game two, going 3-3 with 2 more tape measure blasts and a walk-off double smoked off the centerfield wall to cap off an impressive day at the ballpark. Dalton Fletcher got in a jog as well, going yard over the left field fence. Fletcher knocked in 3 RBI in game two. John Plattner, CJ Fleming, and Cole Greer all contributed RBIs to help the Loggers to another big win 14-4. Austin Chapman got the win for the Loggers, going 5 innings and giving up just 1 hit.Â
The Loggers improve to 17-19 (9-11 MWAC) on the year. They continue their 4 game set with Lincoln College this Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lincoln.
