Lincoln Land men's basketball team fell to 0-11, after failing to keep pace with St. Louis Community College Archers and falling 81-70.
Despite coming off a recent tough loss, LLCC came into the night feeling like they had played better as of late. However, that did not show early in the game as they found themselves in a 7-0 hole quickly. That lead continued to build as after the Loggers' first basket St. Louis went on a 9-0 run to go up 16-2. The lead got as big as 16 at 22-6 about eight minuted into the game. The Loggers finally settled in and chipped away as they got as close as 4, but went into half trailing 40-34.
Lincoln Land started much stronger after the break as over the first 6:00 of the half they were able to tie the game at 48, but that proved the closest LLCC would be the rest of the way. The Archers rattled off a 12-2 run and went into the final 10:00 up 10 at 62-52. Although Lincoln Land got the lead closer than 10, they never really threatened the lead, which fluctuated between 6 and 13 in the final 10 minutes.
Lincoln Land was outbound by STLCC 36-24, while giving up 11 offensive rebounds. LLCC also committed 5 more turnovers, which results in St. Louis knocking in 8 more field goals than the Loggers. Lincoln Land did hold the advantage on three pointer field goals as they made 9 of 23, to STL's 3 of 18. Balanced scoring was a highlight of the Loggers night as they had five scorers in double digits, and all but one Loggers scored. For the second game in a row sophomore Jake Pennell led the team in scoring, tonight with 16 points. Sophomores Logan Clayton (14), Tyler Sales (11), Nic Hagel (11), and CJ May (10) also poured in double digit scoring efforts. Lincoln Land gave up most of their point to four scorers for Saint Louis, who had two scorers put in at least 20.
