The Lincoln Land women's basketball team went on the road to Oglesby to take on Illinois Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon, and came away with a 78- 64 win. The Loggers, who are ranked #15 in the nation, improved to 10-1 on the season.

The Loggers jumped to an early 16-5 lead before Illinois Valley hit back to back threes to cut the lead to six and finished the quarter down 19-14.

The Loggers used full court pressure defense and caused six 2nd quarter turnovers and lead 38-26 at half.

In the second half, IVCC got hot from deep and connected on six three point field goals. During this run, the Eagles cut the lead to three on two occasions. The Lincoln Land defense held solid in the last 3 minutes of the game and put the game out of reach.  Katryel Clark lead the Loggers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Madison Jones also scored 12 points, and Hannah Wallen and Havilyn Dulin chipped in 10 and 12 points respectively.  Chelby Harden and Nicole Robinson each had 8.


"Our defense caused a lot of turnovers tonight, but we missed easy shots and didn't capitalize on those turnovers.  The effort was great, but we need to finish easy shots." Stated coach Jones


Lincoln Land improves to 10-1 and takes on #7 ranked St. Louis Community College on Monday at 3pm at home.
