Lincoln Land women lost their season opener in overtime to Arkansas State Mid-South 76-81. The Loggers led 37-33 at the half.
The third quarter saw LLCC with a 56-52 lead before Mid-South made a run to take a 7 point lead with 5:00 left in the game. Lincoln land made a furious come back and pressured Mid-South into two turnovers with less than a minute to play. On the Loggers final possession, down 2, Denzelle Moore hit a game tying shot with 4 seconds left to force overtime.
LLCC held a 2 point lead early in the overtime period but was unable to hold on.
"We're a very young and inexperienced team right now," said Coach Albert after the game. "Injuries hit us hard over the last two weeks so our Freshmen are being tested early. We have to rely on Ella and Brooke to bring us some game experience until we get healthy. I was pleased with our effort but we need to learn how to close out games. I'm sure that will come as the season progresses."
Madison Jones and Chelby Harden, both Freshmen, led Lincoln Land in scoring with 21 and 20 points respectively. Denzelle Moore added 11.
LLCC will play D1 Moberly Area tomorrow to finish their first road trip classic.
