The Loggers split in double header with MacMurray Highlanders, losing game one 7-6 in 8 innings and winning game two 9-1 in six innings (8 run rule). The Loggers scored two runs in the first inning on RBI hits by Courtney Reeves and Maggie Ballegeer. The Highlanders responded in the 3rd inning, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits including a 3 run home run by Marissa Harris. LLCC scored 4 runs to take the leade 6-4 on back to back home runs by Morgan Heckman (2 RBIs) and Maggie Comerford. MacMurray scored two runs in the 7th inning to tie the game at 6-6. The Loggers failed to score in the 8th (tie breaker) and pitcher Haley Stewart helped her cause with a game winning RBI.
Courtney Reeves was 3-for-4 and Maggie Comerford added two hits in her four at bats. Bri Graham 6 1/3 innings giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 5 strikeouts. Jordan Kraft earned the loss in the 8th inning.
LLCC scored 1 run in the first and 4 runs in the 2nd inning. Anna Walschleger led off the 2nd inning with a double to left center. Jessic Hunt flew out to left and Miranda Esperum walked. Kelsie Allen had a bunt base hit that drove in Walschleger. Logger pitcher Morgan Mansur allowed 1 run in the 2nd inning on a lead off home run by Kerrigan Horn. The Loggers sealed the game by scoring 3 runs in the 6th inning on 3 hits and 2 Highlander errors. Mansur gave up only 2 hits and struck out 4 hitters while walking two as she earned her 9th win of the year.
Morgan Heckman led the Logger offense going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Catcher Jessica Hunt had two hits including a double in the 5th inning.
The Loggers will return to conference play this weekend as the face Heartland CC in Bloomington on Saturday and again at home on Sunday (game times: 1/3 pm).
