The Lincoln Land men's basketball team travelled to Champaign and took down the Parkland Cobras, 65-61.
With the win the Loggers became the first conference team to win on the road this season. Lincoln Land avoided their slow start by racing out to a 12-2 lead early in the game. However, LLCC went cold and found themselves down 9 points not long after. The Loggers were able to fight back and closed the lead to three right before the half when they trailed 34-31. Lincoln Land has gone in to the half of all four conference games trailing by three so they knew they were in a good position.
Parkland was able to push their lead out to as many as 6 points after the half. Lincoln Land stayed close enough to stay in contention. Lincoln Land tied the game on two Marshall Corbin free throws with 3:30 left in the game. On the next possession the Loggers came out with a steal and a transition lay-up and one by sophomore Eddie Longmeyer gave Lincoln Land their first lead, 58-55, since 11:00 remaining in the the first half. Lincoln Land was able to score on every possession from then to the end and got up by 7 points after their last free throws. A meaningless three at the buzzer for Parkland brought the final to 4 points with the Loggers on top 65-61.
A strong close was key for the Loggers. Parkland scored on only three of their last ten possessions, including the uncontested three at the end, while Lincoln Land scored on nine of their last ten. During that stretch the game saw a 11 point swing. On the way to victory Lincoln Land out rebounded Parkland by 5, had 7 more second chance points, and converted on 14 more free throws.

"This team keeps fighting back and playing huge down the stretch. This was a huge win. Our reward is we get the team we are tied for first with on Saturday," stated Head Coach Chad Jones after the game.
Sophomore Harold Robertson led the Loggers with a double-double of 15 points a game high 10 rebounds. Sophomores Eddie Longmeyer (12) and Marshall Corbin (10) were the other Loggers in double digits.
Lincoln Land improves to 14-9 and 3-1 in the conference. They will return home to take on John Wood who is tied with the Loggers for first place in the conference
