Sopohmore Tiffany Sunderlin


The Loggers open the season with two big wins at the Johnson County Tournament. LLCC defeated #4 Central Nebraska 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21 (first win ever over a top 5 team for LLCC).  LLCC's opening match was dominated by the hitting of sophomore Tiffany Sunderlin and newcomer Talesha Scott who combined for 37 kills and a .328 hitting efficiency in a four-set victory over #4 ranked Central Nebraska.  Their timely hitting proved key as opening day nerves rattled LLCC passers for the first two games and permitted Lincoln Land to win both of those games.  Just as important was a key serving run by Claire Reinthaler in game four where Central Nebraska built a quick 6-0 lead and looked to be taking the match to set five.  Reinthaler put together her own six point streak which brought the game to a 9-9 tie.  LLCC took the lead shortly there after and finished off the match, winning 3-1.  It is the first victory ever for LLCC against a national Top Five opponent.


Freshman Telesha Scott

LLCC was sluggish against a pesky Longview squad, playing immediately after the victory against CNCC though the Loggers still came away with a three set victory.  Scott and Sunderlin again paced the attack, joined by Brenna Perinar who contributed 11 kills as well.   Sunderlin put together her second double-double with 20-20 digs and kills in the first match and then 18 and 11 against Longview.   The passing jitters of the first match disappeared as LLCC was aced only twice, permitting the setters to get the ball to hitters all along the net.
 
LLCC is back in action on Saturday against KCK CC and host Johnson County.  The matches are at 9 and 11am.
