The Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team took a long trip to Trenton, Mo and fell to the Pirates of North Central Missouri College 77-76.
 
In what will go down as a disappointing loss for the Loggers, Lincoln Land was playing well for most of the game. The first half was closely contested, but Lincoln Land closed strong to take a 2 point lead in to half, 39-37. The Loggers did not trail in the second half until a free throw with .5 seconds left gave the Pirates the final edge. Along the way Lincoln Land led by as many as 16 points before turnovers gave North Central Missouri a chance to climb back in the game. With the score tied late in the game the Loggers had two chances to break the tie, but both shots went wide. On the final possession Lincoln Land committed a foul with less than a second on the clock and the Pirates capitalized by making the second free throw to seal victory.
 
"I'm very disappointed with tonight. We had a timeout where we were up 14 and in the huddle we talked about how they weren't going to quit, that we had to keep pulling away and we failed to do so. We had too many foolish turnovers and fouls that gave them easy points. We should have won, but we let this one slip away," Head Coach Chad Jones stated following the loss.
 
Lincoln Land held the advantage in many important categories, but committed 18 turnovers, 11 in the second half. The game also had 49 total foul calls and 57 free throw attempts. Freshman Alex Portwood led the Loggers in scoring with 13. Freshmen Nolan Luke had 12 and sophomore Eddie Longmeyer had 10.  NCMC Lorenzo Chisholm led all scorers with 16.
 
Lincoln Land drops to 3-2 on the year. They play again at home on Wednesday against Illinois Wesleyan's JV in Cass Gymnasium.
