Lincoln Land played their second game of the Truman College Classic against the host Truman College Falcons and came away with a 61-36 victory.
Just as the night before, Lincoln Land struggled early on. Halfway through the first half the score was tied at 13 when the Loggers called a timeout. From that point on the Loggers started to turn it on. LLCC ended the first half on a 17-6 run and continued the hot stretch into the second half. The Falcons never got closer than 10 and the Loggers led by as many as 27 on the way to victory.
Lincoln Land had the benefit of balanced scoring with eleven players scoring and no one in double digits. Sophomores Derek Smith and Corey Evak led the way with 9 a piece. Evak also pulled down a game high 7 rebounds. The Loggers out rebounded the Falcons by 19, 39-20, and stole the ball 14 times. Turnovers still caused problems for the Loggers who lost possession 19 times.
Coach Chad Jones reflected after the game, "We can't have these slow starts and expect to win most games. The good news is we turned it on and finally got going when we needed to. The thing that was great about tonight was that we shared the ball and a lot of guys were able to take advantage of opportunities and score. We got better today and got a win so today was a good day."
Lincoln Land came out of the first weekend of the year with a 1-1 record and look to continue winning Tuesday night at home against Hannibal-LaGrange JV.
