A hot shooting Lincoln Land team took an 84-48 victory over John Wood Saturday afternoon. The Loggers finished the game shooting 59% (34-58) from the field while going 5-11 from the 3 point line. The win boosted Lincoln Land to 20-2 and 7-2 in M-WAC play.
John Wood won the opening tip and drained a 3 point basket to start the game. The Loggers quickly answered that with a 2 point basket from Freshman Zoey Beehn. From that point on, Lincoln Land would gradually pull away for a 19-15 point lead.
A 28 point second quarter for the Loggers opened up the contest. Lincoln Land's defense also stepped up and held the Blazers to a mere 8 points. Zoey Beehn had 11 first half points with Alexis Wade contributing 10.
The third quarter was highlighted by Lincoln Land's Kylie Robinson. The Freshman from Macomb, IL had 3 steals and several rebounds to propel the Loggers to a 65-36 advantage entering the final frame.
Lincoln Land was able to preserve their victory by outscoring John Wood 19-12 in the fourth quarter. All nine Loggers finished with at least 20 minutes of playing time and they all scored in the contest.
Lincoln Land forced 27 turnovers and out rebounded the Blazers 34-19.
The Loggers had 4 players finish with double digit scoring. Leading the way was Kylie Robinson with 19. She also finished with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Alexis Wade finished with 14 points while Isabella Tiburzi had 13. Zoey Beehn had 11 followed by Hunter Mowrey and Lauren Chastain dropping 9 each. Lillie Woodworth had 4, Josie Hughes had 3 and Ella Demler finished with 2.
Lincoln Land will travel to Mattoon, IL on Wednesday, Feb. 3 to take on Lake Land College in a 5:30 conference game.
