The Lincoln Land Community College Women's Soccer team overcame an early setback and earned a hard-fought
3-2 home victory over Southeastern Community College on Thursday afternoon, improving to
4-0 on the season.
The match began later than scheduled due to a
transportation delay by Southeastern, and the Loggers took some time to find their rhythm. Southeastern capitalized first, scoring in the
23rd minute to take a
1-0 lead.
LLCC responded in the
39th minute when
Karsyn Jacoby buried an
unassisted goal to tie the match
1-1 heading into halftime.
Early in the second half,
Ellie Johnson gave the Loggers their first lead in the
47th minute, scoring her first goal of the season to make it
2-1. Just one minute later,
Adi Fraase calmly converted a
penalty kick in the
48th minute, extending the advantage to
3-1.
Southeastern pulled one back in the
54th minute to cut the deficit to
3-2, but LLCC's defense held firm the rest of the way. Goalkeeper
Elle Walker came up with several key saves, and the backline stayed organized to secure the win.
The Loggers finished with
28 total shots and
eight corner kicks, keeping steady pressure on Southeastern's defense throughout the match.
LLCC improves to
4-0 on the season and will look to stay unbeaten when they travel to face
Morton College on
Monday, September 8th, at 4:00 PM in
Cicero, IL.
