The #1 seed Lincoln Land women's basketball team defended their home court against the #4 seed Parkland College Cobras and won a NJCAA Region 24 semifinal game by the score of 64-48. The Loggers again started the game slow and found themselves down ten with five minutes to go in the first period. Lincoln Land would claw their way back to a slim one-point deficit at the end of the first period. The second quarter saw the Loggers defense dig in. The Loggers would hold Parkland to just six points in the period while forcing eight turnovers. This led to several transition baskets and allowed Lincoln Land to take a 32-24 lead into the half time intermission.
The second half again saw the Loggers pressure defense and press affect the Cobras. Lincoln Land out scored the cobras 16-11 in the period, and most of those baskets were in the open court. In the final period, Parkland went to a two three zone. While this momentarily affected the Loggers, it did allow them to slow the game and use valuable time off the clock. The Loggers won the final period by three points, which lead to a final score of 64-48.
The Loggers were led in scoring by Sam Lindhorst with 22 points. Lindhorst also manage to pull down ten rebounds and swipe seven steals. Megan Harrell again had a solid night scoring 20 points and pulling down a team high 13 rebounds. Alexis Wade scored 11 points and made two crucial defensive plays in the second half. Lincoln Land improves to 30-2 on the season and will play the #3 seed Lake Land College on Saturday at 1pm at home. Lake Land gave the Loggers one of their two losses on the season when they lost 72-70 in overtime on January 25
th at Lake Land. This will be the second consecutive year that Lincoln Land will play in the NJCAA Region 24 title game at home.
