Loggers Add Two More Wins

Game 1 - Loggers Beat Illinois Central College On Powerful Performance From Mugele

Payten Mugele hit two home runs and drove in six as the Loggers defeated Illinois Central College 17-9 on Monday. Payten Mugele homered in the second and fifth innings. The Loggers collected 14 hits and Illinois Central College had 10 in the high-scoring affair. The Loggers were the first to get on the board in the first when a wild pitch scored one run.

A single by Ryan Brucker gave Illinois Central College the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first. The Loggers made the score 5-2 in the top of the second after Seth Impson tripled, scoring one run, and Payten Mugele homered to right field, scoring three runs.

A grand slam to center field by Thomas Krueger gave Illinois Central College the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the second. Seth Winkler singled to right field, which helped Loggers tie the game at six in the top of the fourth. Illinois Central College took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Brucker doubled, scoring one run, to give Illinois Central College the lead, 7-6.

The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring eight runs on four hits to take the lead, 14-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Kaeden Bowles that drove in three.

Andrew Hendrickson earned the win for the Loggers. The starter allowed nine hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Blake Norton led things off on the mound for Illinois Central College. The hurler surrendered six hits and nine runs (eight earned) over four innings, striking out nine and walking six. Garrick Winkeler threw two and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Loggers in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking two.

The Loggers piled up 14 hits in the game. Payten Mugele and Kaeden Bowles each collected three hits for the Loggers. Seth Impson and Colbie Glenn each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Seth Winkler led Lincoln Land with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. The Loggers ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. Loggers turned one double play in the game.

Illinois Central College amassed 10 hits in the game. Ryan Brucker and Thomas Krueger were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Illinois Central College. Thomas Krueger led Illinois Central College with four runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-5 on the day.

Game 2 - Hendrickson With 4 Hits As Loggers Beat Illinois Central College

Andrew Hendrickson collected four hits in five at bats, as the Loggers defeated Illinois Central College 11-2 on Monday. Andrew Hendrickson doubled in the fourth inning, tripled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

The Loggers scored six runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Andrew Hendrickson doubled, scoring three runs, Ethan Hurst tripled, scoring one run, Payten Mugele hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Kaeden Bowles singled, scoring one run.

The Loggers got on the board in the top of the second inning after Kaeden Bowles singled down the left field line, Nolan Turner singled down the left field line, Seth Impson singled to center field, Seth Winkler hit a sacrifice fly, and Andrew Hendrickson singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Trent Koehler earned the win for the Loggers. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Mason Lynch took the loss for Illinois Central College. The starter went three and two-thirds innings, giving up 11 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits, striking out four and walking three. Bryce Buhs pitched one inning of zero-run ball for the Loggers in relief. The hurler gave up one hit, striking out one and walking none.

The Loggers collected 16 hits in the game. Kaeden Bowles, Nolan Turner, Seth Impson, and Colbie Glenn each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Thomas Krueger went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jake Stewert led Illinois Central College with two hits in three at bats.

Next up for the Loggers is a game against Millikin University on Wednesday at home.
