Loggers Lose in the Elite Eight

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team lost to Pima College (AZ) by a score of 82-56 in the elite eight of the NJCAA National Tournament. Not much went right for the Loggers in the first half. The Loggers managed just five field goals in the first half. The second quarter was especially rough as Lincoln Land shot 15% from the field and was 0-4 from the 3pt line. The Loggers trailed 42-21 at the half.

The third quarter was nearly identical as the second, as Lincoln Land shot a dismal 18% from the field. "Sometimes you just have those nights, unfortunately it happens at the worst time of year for us" said Logger coach Chad Jones. The fourth quarter saw Lincoln Land find stride offensively. The Loggers outscored the Aztecs 21-18 in the period, but it was too little too late. The final margin of defeat was 82-56. Megan Harrell was the lone bright spot for the Loggers. Harrell scored 24 points while going 10-11 from the foul line. Mae Herman chipped in 11 points off of the bench for the Loggers. Lincoln Land falls to 32-3 and will play #5 Union College (NJ) in the fifth place bracket. The Loggers have played Union once before, in last years sweet sixteen. The Loggers won in dramatic fashion in overtime.
