Loggers Win on the Road Against #23 Parkland

Megan Harrell had a double/double of 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead #5 Lincoln Land to a 75-66 victory over #23 Parkland College. Sam Lindhorst added a team high 19 points as the Loggers upped their record to 26-2.

Lincoln Land controlled the tempo early in the contest to take a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. Megan Harrell picked up her second personal foul late in the period but Lincoln Land was still able maintain the lead.

The second period was a complete turnaround for Parkland. The Cobras stormed back behind a strong offensive performance as they scored 27 points in the quarter. Lincoln Land saw their largest deficit of 7 points at the 3:56 point. A sluggish Logger offense only managed 14 points in the second and trailed 40-35 at the half.

Entering the third quarter down 5, the Loggers quickly cut into the Parkland lead. Lincoln Land managed to re-take the lead by 2 at the 7:45 mark in the frame. The Loggers outscored Parkland 18-11 for a 57-51 advantage.

The final quarter was certainly a back and forth affair. Parkland fought their way back to within 1 point at the 5:42 point. A big offensive rebound put back off a free throw by Sam Lindhorst gave Lincoln Land a 5 point lead. Defensively, Whitney Rumbold blocked an in bounds pass with 2:05 remaining that was caught by the in bounder to give the ball back to Lincoln Land. That play would propel Lincoln Land to garner their largest lead of 9 points which was the final score of 75-66.

Sam Lindhorst led Lincoln Land with 19 points, 4 steals and 3 assists. Megan Harrell had 13 points and 14 rebounds. Rounding out the Logger scoring were: Whitney Rumbold 13, Alexis Wade 11, Durbin Thomas 10, Mae  Herman 5, Elynn Peterson 4.

Lincoln Land improved to 26-2 and 12-2 in conference play. The Loggers return to action Wednesday, Feb. 26 as they host Lake Land College in Cass Gym.
