Loggers Cruise to Victory

The #11 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to Spoon River College and scored a decisive MWAC victory by a score of 90-33.  The Loggers started the game matching baskets with Spoon River, with an early score of 8-8.  Eventually the pressure defense of Lincoln Land caused the flood gates to open, and the Loggers finished the first quarter on a 20-4 run.  The second quarter was fairly evenly matched as Lincoln Land won the scoring battle 20-14 in the period.  Sam Lindhorst and Alexis Wade each poured in 11 first half points.

The second half saw the Loggers struggle to score.  Lincoln Land managed just six points in the first seven minutes of the half.  Things quickly changed though, and Lincoln Land managed to out score the Snappers 14-6 in the final three minutes of the period.  The Logger defense was stifling in the fourth quarter and allowed Spoon River to a season low two points in the period.  Lincoln Land out scored Spoon River 22-2 in the final frame.  Lincoln Land was led in scoring by Mae Herman with 16.  Sam Lindhorst scored 15, while Alexis Wade and Megan Harrell chipped in 11 respectively. Taylor Blehm scored 10 points coming off the bench.  Harrell led Lincoln Land with nine rebounds while Blehm pulled down seven.  Every Logger dressed for action scored in the contest.  The Loggers had a season high 22 steals in the game. Alexis Wade and Whitney Rumbold each had five steals.

Lincoln Land improves to 21-2 (7-2) on the season and will travel to Godfrey, Illinois on Wednesday to take on Lewis and Clark College at 5:30 pm.
