#14 Loggers Chop Down #12 Golden Eagles

The #14 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to #12 ranked Rock Valley College in a battle of nationally ranked teams, and won decisively 86-69.  Lincoln Land came out of the gate at a blistering pace and scored 29 points in the first quarter.  During this time, the Logger defense was on point allowing just 13 Rock Valley College points in the quarter.  As good as things went in the first period, things went better in the second.  The Loggers put another 30 points on the board, while holding Rock Valley to just 11 in the period.  The half time score saw the Loggers hold a commanding lead at 59-24.  "We came out on fire and never really cooled off in the first half" said Logger Coach Chad Jones.

The second half saw Rock Valley go to a press and zone defense.  While the Loggers easily broke the pressure, quick early shots led to transition baskets for Rock Valley.  Rock Valley slowly whittled the Logger lead down to 73-45 at the end of the third quarter.  The Loggers built the lead back up to 26, however, hot shooting from deep pulled Rock Valley closer. Rock Valley hit 12 three-point field goals in the game, eight of which came late.  The fourth quarter saw every Logger dressed for action play, and the Loggers easily held on for a 86-69 victory.  "This was a great win against a great team that is a perennial national power" said Jones

The Loggers were lead in scoring by freshman point guard Kylie Robinson with a blistering 32 points.  Freshman Zoey Beehn chipped in 14 and sophomore forward Lillie Woodworth added 13.  Zoey Beehn pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Loggers.  Robinson led Lincoln Land with seven assists.   Hunter Mowrey, Lillie Woodworth, and Zoey Beehn all took charges on the afternoon.  Lincoln Land improves to 3-0 on the young season and will play again at home on Wednesday against St. Louis Community College.
