The #5 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to conference rival Lewis and Clark College and scored a decisive 89-32 victory at Cass Gym. Lincoln Land started the game hot and ripped of 26 first quarter points while holding Lewis and Clark to just five in the first period. The second period was much of the same as the Loggers outscored the Trailblazers 20-7 in the period. Sophomore Sam Lindhorst scored 16 of her game high 20 points in the first half going 4-5 from the three point line.
The second half saw the Loggers relax a bit and Lewis and Clark took advantage by matching Lincoln Land 17-17 in the period. That was as close as Lewis and Clark would get as the bench of the Loggers played a near perfect fourth quarter, out scoring the Trailblazers 26-3 in the period for a final score of 89-32. Lincoln Land once again stuffed the stat sheet. Sam Lindhorst led the Loggers with 20 points, Megan Harrel added 17, Durbin Thomas had 13, and Taylor Blehm chipped in 10 respectively. The Loggers out rebounded Lewis and Clark 42-28 on the night. Megan Harrell pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double. Lindhorst added eight rebounds of her own. Lindhorst also had a team high eight steals. Durbin Thomas led the Loggers by dishing out eight assists.
Lincoln Land improves to 16-0 and 2-0 in MWAC play. The Loggers travel to East Peoria next Wednesday to take on Illinois Central college.
