The Lincoln Land men's basketball team traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Bobcats of Bryant and Stratton College, but eventually fell 114-81.
The game played out with a series of scoring runs by each team. For the first few minutes, the two went back and forth and were fairly evenly matched and were last tied at 13-13 before Bryant and Stratton took the lead for the remainder of the contest. After being tied, the Bobcats rattled off an 8-0 run and over the next 6:00 went on a 36-16 run to find themselves up 20 coming out of the last media timeout of the first half. Lincoln Land was able to close the half on an 11-0 run of their own to get back within single digits at 49-40. Coming out of the half the Logger tightened the game even more getting as close as 53-48, but the game would quickly turn from that point. Bryant and Stratton's full court pressure produced some Logger turnovers and in just 5:00 of game play went on a 19-0 run and a 24-2 run and the contest was no longer in doubt. The Bobcats continued to pour in the threes and led by over 30 points on their way to the 114-81 victory over LLCC.
The 81 points were the second most scored by LLCC this season, but proved not enough to overcome 27 turnovers and losing the rebounding margin by 14. Points in the paint and points off turnovers where were the game difference came form. The Bobcats doubled up the Loggers 60-30 in the paint and got 30 points from the 27 Loggers turnovers.
AJ Tillman poured in a game, season, and career high 24 points, the most scored by a Logger this season. That is the second time Tillman has eclipsed the 20-point mark. Tillman also ended with a game high 8 assists. Freshmen Nate Moore ended with 16, the second game in a row with 16+ points. Freshmen Gus McCrary tied a career and season high with 11 points while also just missing a double double with 9 rebounds and added in 4 assists.
Lincoln Land drops to 3-16 on the season. The Loggers will now be in Region and Conference play for the rest of the season, next up will be against John Wood in Quincy on Wednesday evening.
