Loggers Win With 21 Strikeouts From the Pitching Staff

Mitch Dye struck out 15 batters as the starting pitcher led the Loggers past Bryant & Stratton (OH) 10-2 on Sunday. Dye surrendered three hits and two runs over six innings while walking three. Bryant & Stratton (OH) opened the scoring in the first after Darius Ensley grounded out, scoring one run. Caleb Royer singled on a full count, which helped the Loggers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A solo home run to center field by Levi Gilbert gave Bryant & Stratton (OH) the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third. The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 6-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Austin Adcock that drove in two. William Price took the loss for Bryant & Stratton (OH). The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out five and walking three. Trey Carter, Eli Curtis, and Andrew Hendrickson each threw shutout innings for the Loggers in relief.

Adcock and Royer each drove in three runs for the Loggers. The Loggers didn't commit a single error in the field. Grant Pohlman had the most chances in the field with 22.

Kalayo Shaw set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Bryant & Stratton (OH) with two hits in four at bats. Ensley and Gilbert each drove in one run for Bryant & Stratton (OH). Bryant & Stratton (OH) turned one double play in the game.

Loggers will travel to Spoon River for their next game on Saturday.
